How Direct Insurance Billing Works

Before your first visit, our front-desk staff will ask for your insurance information and will try to reach out to your insurance carrier to understand your eligible benefits and coverage.  They will try to pre-determine the contemplated treatment of your first visit and identify if there would be any out of pocket expenses such as deductibles, copayments or non-covered items.  Wherever possible, our staff will inform you ahead of your appointment of any such out of pocket expenses and you will have complete control over what treatment you choose to undergo.  We will also advise you of your insurance coverage limitations such that you can get the most benefit out of your plan.

After your treatment, we submit the claim to your insurance provider on your behalf, directly billing them for the covered portion of your treatment.  Should there be any balance not covered by your insurance, we’ll inform you of the amount and the available payment options.

What You Need to Know about Direct Insurance Billing

While Direct Insurance Billing offers numerous advantages, it’s important to remember its limitations.  The staff at Leslie Family Dental shall always strive to do the utmost to ensure there are no surprises at checkout but we cannot guarantee this to be the case 100% of the time.

In some cases, insurance companies would not disclose any information to us and would only provide the information to the insured (i.e. you).  In other cases, information we have may not be completely accurate or incomplete at the time of your dental visit for no fault of our own.  This may result in unexpected outcomes.  For those reasons, we always recommend that you do your part in familiarizing yourself with your dental insurance plan’s details including coverage limits, deductibles, and eligible treatments, to better understand what portion of dental care may or may not be covered 

Direct Insurance Billing is not mandatory and many dental offices do not offer it because it consumes significant administrative resources in the office.  It is a value-add service Leslie Family Dental offers free-of-charge to our patients for their convenience.  Our team is here to assist you in navigating these details.
